Conversation is a meeting of minds with different memories and habits. When minds meet, they don't just exchange facts: they transform them, reshape them, draw different implications from them, engage in new trains of thought. Conversation doesn't just reshuffle the cards: it creates new cards.   -    Theodore Zeldin

What is a Conversation Cafe?

The fundamental purpose of the Conversation cafe is to provide a relaxed environment where everyone can enjoy hearing other points of view.
We meet once a month at a cafe to discuss a topic chosen on the day. The casual atmosphere of the venue helps to promote spontaneity, encouraging  people  to shift from small talk to 'big' talk.

Anyone of any age group is welcome. Just turn up on the day and if you prefer you can listen  rather than participate.  Choice is yours.

The Process

Groups are divided up into about 8 people or less
  • An initial round for everyone to speak (with no interruptions from others)
  • Open Conversation (talking and listening)
  • A final round for anyone to reflect on their experience

A Conversation Cafe isn't.......

A club or organization for any one point of view.  There is nothing to join, no fees to pay ( except perhaps to buy something to eat or drink at the cafe)
No ideologies are promoted and it is not a place to press your ideas on others or network for business
